Johnny Winter - Four Concerts in Hawaii  - a fundraiser for Hawaiian Lifeguard Assoc. Jr. Lifeguard Program -

Lazar Bear is proud to present The Texas based Legendary Blues / Rock Guitar

Slinger Johnny Winter and his band. They will make a long awaited four Island tour of Hawaii. Johnny appeared at Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010! After earning kudos for his 2007 performance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, Johnny also returned to the scene of the original crime this past June and played with the Allman Brothers Band. New record label! Paul Nelson, Johnny’s guitarist, says Johnny is joining Megaforce Records, a label whose roster includes - among many other great artists - the Black Crowes. Keep an eye out for a long-awaited studio release from Johnny, his first album since 2004’s I’m a Bluesman.

Winters on the water! Johnny appeared with brother Edgar as part of the incredible lineup for this past October’s Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. This remarkable event, featured some of the biggest names in blues and roots music.

BIO: Johnny Winter has been a guitar hero without equal. Signing to Columbia records in 1969 called largest solo artist deal of it’s time, Johnny immediately laid out the blueprint for his fresh take on classic blues a prime combination for the legions of fans just discovering the blues via the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Constantly shifting between simple country blues in the vein of Robert Johnson, to all-out electric slide guitar blues-rock, – Johnny has always been one of the most respected singers and guitar players in rock and the clear link between British blues-rock and American Southern rock (a la the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.) Throughout the ’70s and ’80s, Johnny was the unofficial torch-bearer for the blues, championing and aiding the careers of his idols like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.  Johnny Winter remains a native Texan, born and bred in Beaumont Texas on February 23, 1944, the town where the famous Spindletop gusher came in to kick off the “black gold” rush in 1901. Johnny has been at the forefront of modern blues and blues-rock for more than 30 years, and his his latest release and Grammy nominated “I’m A Bluesman” disc on Virgin/EMI records, figures to his Texas-sized reputation. Johnny and brother Edgar were surrounded by the blues, country and Cajun music. There is no question that for pure blues guitar talent, Johnny Winter is at the top of his game. Johnny has spent his life mastering a number of varied blues styles and that’s what makes him such a treat to listen to. In general, though, when you think of Johnny’s style you think of undiminished scorhin’ fury and passion. Using an unwound G string and lighter gauge strings helps Johnny  do the note bending that is his trademark. With Johnny, its hard to say where the blues stops and the rock and roll begins. He has always played both of them, and as Muddy Water’s puts it, “The Blues had a baby and they named it ROCK’N’ ROLL.” Johnny best describes blues music by saying  “ It’s a living music, it  makes me feel good, whether, I am playing it or listening to it. That hasn’t changed since the first day I heard it. One of the things that’s fascinating to me is not quite understanding why I like it. It’s mysterious, but whatever it is, it still works the same way on me.  I don’t feel good if I’m not playing, not hearing it, there’s a real hole in my life. For me, blues is a necessity” Johnny has recorded many great albums, “The Guitar Slinger”,  “Scorching’ Blues”, “Nothin’ But The Blues” and “Walkin’ By Myself”.  with his hottest band ever will be performing on a four Island tour in the Hawaii.    www.johnnywinter.net
